Product description
EK006 is a serially controlled relay board with 8x SPDT relays. The board simplifies hook-up to a microcontroller by using a shift register. Only three wires (plus 5V and GND) is needed for operation. Parallel load is also supported by leaving JMP1 open. Multiple boards can be chained without using more pins on the microcontroller. Each relay has an normally open (NO) and a normally closed (NC) connection. When the relay is inactive, COM is connected to NC. When the relay is active, COM is connected to NO. The serial input connects to a microcontroller using clock, data and latch. For more information on how the signalling works, see datasheet for shift register 74HC595. The serial input header can be used to power a connected microcontroller or supply the relay board with 5VDC. Don't connect a power source to both VIN and 5V on the serial input at the same time. This will likely destroy something!
