By emitting infrared light - invisible to the human eye but visible to cameras - it becomes possible to record footage in total darkness, known as "night vision". IR lighting is commonly used in security and surveillance systems, wilde life cameras, and similar applications. It is often used in combination with CCD or CMOS cameras (without IR filters) for discreet and effective night-time monitoring.
