Product description
Makey Makey Classic is an innovative interface developed by JoyLabz in collaboration with SparkFun Electronics. It enables the use of fruits, modeling clay, or virtually any other object as input devices for a computer by transforming them into keyboard or mouse controllers. By utilizing high-resistance switch technology, Makey can detect closed circuits even through materials with low conductivity, such as fruit, water, or human skin.
Specifications:
- Microcontroller: PIC 18F25K50
- USB Interface: Full HID emulation (keyboard and mouse)
- Primary Inputs: 6 on the front side (e.g., arrow keys, spacebar)
- Secondary Inputs: 12 on the back side (e.g., letters, mouse buttons)
- Connections: Alligator clips, soldering, or other methods
- Power Supply: USB-powered
Functionality:
Makey Makey operates as a plug-and-play device without requiring drivers or programming. It is recognized as a standard HID keyboard/mouse, ensuring compatibility with most operating systems. When a circuit is closed between one of the inputs and ground (Earth), the corresponding keypress or mouse click signal is sent to the computer.
