Product description
Black network cable for outdoor use. Cat6 CCA. Conductor: stranded (soft). Sold on 100 m reel. Suitable for making patch cords (network cable with RJ-45 connectors fitted). U/UTP (Unshielded Twisted Pair). Cable jacket made of polyethylene (PE) which is highly resistant to weather and UV radiation. Suitable for outdoor use, e.g. in gardens, camping sites, on house facades. When installing cables in the ground, protective pipes should be used.
For PoE applications, CCA cables longer than 25 m should not be made. For longer lengths, cables with pure copper (CU) conductors are recommended.
What is CCA? It stands for Copper Clad Aluminium which means that the signal conductor is made of copper plated aluminium wire. A CCA cable does not affect the transmission speed as the skin effect will occur. The skin effect is a physical phenomenon that causes high-frequency signals to seek out to the outer periphery of the conductor (the skin).
CCA and PoE: In the case of DC transmission in a CCA conductor, it will perform slightly less, aluminium has a higher resistance than copper. In the case of shorter length (< 25 m) this is not relevant in practical sense. Aluminium is a good enough conductor for PoE if the cable is not too long.
