Product description
Camera Cable (Adapter Cable) for Use with Raspberry Pi Cameras on Raspberry Pi 5 and Raspberry Pi Zero / Zero 2
The Raspberry Pi 5 is equipped with two MIPI connectors with four lanes each, providing support for both CSI (Camera Serial Interface) and DSI (Display Serial Interface). The Raspberry Pi Zero and Zero 2 have a single MIPI connector that supports CSI only.
Each MIPI connector on the Raspberry Pi 5 can be used for either a camera (CSI) or a display (DSI).
The MIPI connectors use a 22-pin “mini” FPC connector with 0.5 mm pitch. To connect Raspberry Pi cameras that use the standard 15-pin FPC connector with 1 mm pitch, an adapter cable is required.
There are two types of adapter cables available for Raspberry Pi:
-
MIPI 22-pin to FPC 15-pin (CSI) – for connecting a camera. Compatible with Raspberry Pi 5 and Raspberry Pi Zero / Zero 2.
-
MIPI 22-pin to FPC 15-pin (DSI) – for connecting a display. Compatible with Raspberry Pi 5 only.
Current Raspberry Pi cameras and displays use the standard 15-pin FPC connector and are directly compatible with earlier Raspberry Pi models. However, to use them with a Raspberry Pi 5, an adapter cable is required.
Note: The camera cable cannot be used to connect a display, and the display cable cannot be used to connect a camera.
